A new AI chat doesn't know your prices, your policies or how you talk to customers. So you type the basics in again, or you get a generic answer.
Business Foundation writes those basics down once. It asks one plain question at a time for about 20 minutes, reads your website or files first so it can skip what's already written down, and saves your answers as it goes. You end up with a CLAUDE.md file and five files in a business/ folder: what you sell, how you work, your customers, your voice, and what's happening right now.
It records your facts in your own words. Anything you don't know or skip is marked as a gap, never guessed.
It ends with a test. A new chat in the same project should be able to tell you what you sell and what you charge.
Small-business owners who use Claude or Codex for everyday work, such as replying to a customer, quoting a price or writing a post, and are tired of explaining the basics each time.
You need a folder for your business that the AI can read and write, and that later chats in the same project can open. An empty folder is fine. In the Claude desktop app, that means a Cowork project with a folder. A plain chat with only temporary files won't keep the notes.

You need a paid Claude plan with code execution turned on (Settings, then Capabilities). In Claude Code, unzip it into your project's .claude/skills/ folder; in Codex, into .agents/skills/.
You can stop at any point. To pick up later, say the same thing in the same project.
If it doesn't know, add the line the skill gives you to the project's instructions and ask again.
